Michelle Obama’s big speech

There is something a little fishy going on here! I heard this speech from Hugh Hewitt show (here is what he played) and wanted to get the full transcript, the only problem is it’s no where to be found. It seems the only full transcript is actually the transcript of what Hugh Hewitt played and commented on from the Free Republic. Captains Quarters also has a partial of it here but it seems that the full audio and transcript has been pulled. If that is the case then Obama has made a smart move here because this speech is down right scary! Hugh Hewitt has gotten himself quite a find here but here is what I could gather from the Free Republic:

In 2008, we are still a nation that is too divided. We live in isolation, and because of that isolation, we fear one another.

We don’t know our neighbors. We don’t talk. We believe that our pain is our own - we don’t realize that the struggles and challenges of all of us are the same.

We are too isolated. And we are still a nation that is still too cynical.

We look at it as them and they as opposed to us - we don’t engage because we are still too cynical.

Too Cynical! I’m not cynical!

Don’t get sick in this country - not here. Americans are in debt not because they live frivolously but because someone got sick. And even with insurance, the deductibles and premiums are so high that people are still putting medication [and ?] treatments on credit cards.

Who putts treatments on credit cards?

And they can’t get out from under.

I could go on and on and on, but his is how we’re living, people, in 2008.

Please stop!

And things have gotten progressively worse throughout my lifetime - through Democratic and Republican administrations - it hasn’t gotten better for regular folks.

Hasn’t gotten better? People are living longer and I am 23 and I own a house! Not better! What is she talking about?

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another - that we cannot measure our greatness in the society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these.

And the least of these are the richest least in the world.

That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done - that is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this race who understands that.

We’re all idiots?

That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls - our souls are broken in this nation.

Fix our souls! Who the hell is she to say that the government needs to fix my soul! This is not her place to fix my soul but God’s! I do not what to hear people from the government coming up to me and telling me they are going to fix my soul. You should worry about fixing the government and I’ll worry about fixing my soul.

If we can’t see ourselves in one another, we will never make those sacrifices.

So I am here right now because I am married to the only person in this race who has a chance at healing this nation.

Quite confident or rather more like arrogant.

The first major decision he had to make in his life, after college - “Do I go to Wall Street and make money, or do I work for the people?” - Barack worked as a community organizer in some of the toughest neighborhoods on the south side of Chicago.

Helping young mothers find their voice and their power - folks who had a reason to be cynical because government had forgotten them long ago.

There is no one else in this race who can claim that kind of commitment to people on the ground. No one.

Hugh Hewitt pointed out that McCain stayed in the Hanoi Hilton for six years.

And I would think in a nation like ours, -

Barack, as Oprah said, is one of the most brilliant men you will meet in our lifetime.

Barack is more than ready. He’ll be ready today, he’ll be ready on day one, he’ll be ready in a year from now, five years from now - he is ready.

For what?

That is not the question. The question is: What are we ready for?

Oh, she doesn’t know.

Wait, wait, wait - because we say we’re ready for change, we say we’re ready for change, butcha see, change is HARD.

Oh that’s right: change. What Change?

Change will always be hard, and it doesn’t happen from the top down.

We do not get universal health care, we don’t get better schools because somebody else is in the White House. We get change because folks from the grass roots up decide they are sick and tired of other people telling them how their lives will be - when they decide to roll up their sleeves and work.

Change to the left.

And Barack Obama will require you to work.

Require me to work? Are we gong to have forced labor camps?

He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism, that you put down your division, that you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones, that you push yourselves to be better, and that you engage.

Oh I’ll be Engaged. Opposing your candidacy!

Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual - uninvolved, uninformed…

And you are gong to force us!

We have young kids all over the world who are looking to this nation, and they are trying to figure out who we are, and what we wanna become.

We don’t wanna be like your vision!

We have a chance, not just to make history, but we can change the world.

We can change the world - yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can…

And then Russia attacked Europe and created Euraisa, Oh what, Man for a second there I thought I was reading a speech from 1984. But that is not so this was an actual speech given from the wife of one of the top candidates for president. This speech is scary stuff here! Fix my soul! Require me to work! This is starting to sound like fascism here. Now don’t get me wrong here I am certain that they want to make a better county here but these things she is talking about here is massive government control over your life. It sounds like a police state here! Is this really the man you want in control of your county? Liberty is not the value of the left but equality is and Obama is going to force it on you.

This lady has lived in a rarified environment, at least since Princeton. But the prism through which she views the world has only white and black light. For one who received a top notch education and got boostd up the corporate ladder due to the helping hand of her husband’s ‘handlers’ who picked him to be the left democrat standard bearer, she is ungratefu, which is the precursor to cynacism. That’s why she is for the first time in her life proud of her country. Beca
use both she and OB are front and center in race for W
H? Now we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done - that is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this race who understands that.
If America doesn’t recognize that, will she fall backinto cyyacism?
We’re all idiots?

She’s a Black Racist and he’s a confused mulatto. A tragic mulatto now!

Yeah, see we middle class white americans MUST HAND OVER OUR WEALTH THE MICHELLE OBAMA, THE BLACK PIG, SO SHE CAN REDISTRIBUTE IT TO THE POOR BLACK MASSES… Of course I trust her to help the poor!

Now come on Man, you don’t need to start calling her a pig and do the same thing that the left does to us! She is a far left Marxist if you would like to call her that. However let’s try not to slander people like the left does. Let’s be better than that so as to show the American people in another small way that we are better suited to lead the country.

Ignorant, that what many of you are. of course, if you never lived a typical lifestyle you would never understand what she is saying. READ BETWEEN THE LINES!! Instead of spending your money supporting reality TV shows and on your fifth car, lets help the economy and do away with racist people. Guess what? That BLACK PIG IS GOING TO SH*T ALL OVER YOUR FACE!! KEEP YOUR IGNORANCE TO YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY. When you were born, you came out of the wrong hole, whose fault is that? Not the BLACK MASSES…..guess who?

Darth:

I see that you’re nothing more than a religious idealist who thinks that “this is not her place to fix [your] soul but God’s!” Michelle Obama is not advocating on behelf of her husband so she can snatch away your your religion and brainwash you. Rather, she’s working to put a president into office who understands what’s going on not only in our country, but in the world. Jesus would definitely have been a Democrat, by the way.

Before you label me as a God-hating atheist, know that I am actually a very moderate Episcopal. Just FYI.

Joan:

Judging from your post, I will assume that you haven’t lived a very hard life, either. Actually, though, Michelle Obama’s life wasn’t too pleasant before Princeton. But because of GOVERNMENT help, she had the opportunity to go to one of America’s finest learning institutions and better her life. Now, she’s trying to better the lives of people around her. It’s not cynical to want to help your own people; in fact, it’s expected. Of course, it would be frowned upon if she ONLY wanted to help blacks, but she doesn’t, so she should be applauded for her efforts, instead.

e:

I don’t even know what to say to that. It still amazes (and sickens) me that people like you exist in 2008. I live in the deep South, where racism is rampant and usually predicated by the uneducated, but you seem to at least have some grasp of politics, so I can’t imagine how you’re ignorant enought to scream that Michelle Obama is “THE BLACK PIG” and that she wants to “REDISTRIBUTE [the wealth of us white folks (I’m mocking you)] TO THE POOR BLACK MASSES.” She wants to redistribute wealth to the poor. She doesn’t want to strip you of your hard-earned money; rather, she simply wants to give poor blacks AND whites an opportunity to not only become contributing members of society, but to move up the socio-economic ladder. That’s the American dream, right?

Back to Darth:

“Let’s try not to slander people like the left does.” What? Have you seen the ads that McCain has put out? Do you watch Fox News? I saw a story the other day on Fox that actually PROMOTED negative campaigning; the anchor said that the Democrats were HURTING THEMSELVES by staying so positive. Perhaps you should rethink that argument.

I will look forward to an exciting debate on this topic!

No Matthew, I actually always up for a good discussion! Only the thing is I had my hand all burned up so I was actually just chilling out all day when you put up your comment. So that you all understand here, on this Blog new commentators need approval before they get posted because spammers like to hit blogs too and we want to keep the junk out. But we accept whole heartedly all comments especially disagreeing ones! From what I understand when we clear a certain E-mail then the blog automatically lets in all comments from that person so I think that you should now see your comments post up immediately. And now that I have had my hand burned up and can’t work till Tuesday I’m going to try to get a lot of things up this weekend so please don’t go away Matthew I want some more discussion here!

First things first, John Smith- Thank you very much for the angry comment! I always love it when worldly people hate me because that means that I MIGHT have said something right. God bless you and I will pray for you.

Rachel- I don’t think it’s gotten worse I think it’s gotten better! I want that to continue. Please come back and let’s talk further about this!

Matthew- How the heck do you know that Jesus would have been a Democrat? In Mark 6:37 when the 5000 people where hungry Jesus said to his disciples “You feed them.” He didn’t say “go to the government for help.” I have never said that Jesus is a republican and I am never going to do so because my God is above the politics of this world! In Isaiah 55:9 God says “For just as the heavens are higher that the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” To arrogantly say you know all about God will lead you down the path of destruction for God says “Human pride will be humbled and human arrogance will be brought down.” (Isaiah 2:17) Now I don’t put labels on people that comment here I only judge people by their actions and words and I leave the judgment of your soul to God. Now for McCain, is stating a fact a slander? Please give me a specific example so that I know what you are talking about.

Man you get you hand all burned up and look what happens! But don’t you guys worry I just fine but I still just need a few more days to heal up but that does give me the chance to get up here on my blog here!!

“For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.”
-Jesus, Matthew 25:35-36

That sounds like a pretty Democratic ideal to me. When we are in need of assistance, who should help us? No one would pay extra taxes just to help the poor. No one would simply offer to buy groceries for the elderly who can’t work. It’s not the government’s job to be fiscally responsible for each citizen, but it is the government’s job to provide everyone the means to live a relatively comfortable, productive life. Whether this assistance comes in the form of a welfare check or the public education you receive as a child, the public has always provided the funds for the government to appropriate. And this leads to a more adept, well-rounded society. Of course the system is flawed, but the Church isn’t known for its perfection, either. There is just as much greed plaguing our religious institutions as there is in our governmental institutions.

Perhaps I was a bit out of line to suggest that Jesus would take part in our petty political games. I won’t argue that.

However, America was based on religious freedom, a huge part of that being separation of church and state. Using religious reasoning to support your argument automatically invalidates it. It’s impossible to argue religion and politics in our secular society.

Until recently, slander may have been too strong a word. Perhaps I should have said that McCain should respect the American public by not assuming that he has to stoop to schoolyard name-calling to grab our attention. However, with his recent “pig” ad, where he claimed that Obama was calling Palin a pig, I feel that I can justifiably use the word “slander.” The McCain camp knew before it ran the ad that Obama did not mean that. A candidate who has to hurl such transparent insults is a candidate who has obviously exhausted his other options.

Back to your religious rhetoric. Politics is not the place to discuss religious affiliation. I mentioned that I am an Episcopal to prevent you from labeling me as an atheist super-liberal. Suggesting that I am moving “down the path of destruction,” however, is not only irrelevant and unacceptable in a political discussion, but exceedingly brash and self-righteous on your part.

Before you try to pass as a well-versed political analyst, I suggest that you come down from your ivory tower and discuss the matters politically and objectively, rather than from a point of view influenced too heavily by religion. Maintaining your Christian values is expected and appreciated, but casting your beliefs upon others and using those beliefs to discuss an unrelated argument is certainly less than impressive.

Darth B'strad

Comment on September 16th, 2008.

Let’s start with the religious aspects:
I shouldn’t have put it so harshly as to say “down the path of destruction” but it is a valid point to say that God would humble you for saying such things. Believe me I know! Like I said I just had my hand all burned up because I was being to arrogant that day. So I do, truly, apologize for being over the top with that. But the thing to remember in all this is that God doesn’t see left and right, he sees people who love him and want to serve him and thous that don’t. I would be damning myself if I were to judge you on your heart for God. A point I have been trying to hit in a lot lately is that God uses us as we are and as we continue to serve Him, He will change us into the person that He wants. I keep on quoting Paul where he says in Romans “Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? they are responsible to the Lord, so let him judge whether they are right or wrong. And with the Lord’s help, they will do what is right and will receive his approval.” (14:4) I am not here to label you or to bash you in with the Bible, but I truly do want to encourage you to trust in God for He is all that matters in this life. I will pray for you and hope in God that He will reveal to you his path for your life. But don’t think for a second that you can just say something stupid like “Jesus would definitely have been a Democrat” and expect me not to call you on it. But I’ll try not to be so over bearing in the future.

Now you say you want to throw the religious out of this debate, I agree!

No, it’s not the government’s job to make sure you have a job! It’s your JOB! The government’s job is to ensure our freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I don’t want a government that will take care of me! I want the freedom to be able to fail! If you go around all your life looking for a handout then your not going to be a happy person. actually working hard for what you have will the thing that will make you happier in this life for you have earned what you have. So really what I want most is for government to get the heck out of my way. In fact to me, more government is an infringement on my right to the pursuit of happiness. So I take the standard right wing position of the less we have government the better it is. Now we all need help in our lives but I want to see that help coming from the friends that we know and our churches because they do a much better job at it.

Now for the pig comment, I actually agree with you! I don’t think that Obama meant to call Sarah a pig. However his audience did! That means, Obama is out of touch with his his audience because they started laughing before he finished the comment and he didn’t correct them. With how much Obama has gotten away with so far with Tony Resko and Bill Aires I think he deserved that one.

Now you can stop with the “ivory tower” and the “self-righteous” BS now because I am going to level here with you. I know that Bryan Federowicz (that’s my real name) is a piece of crap! I have an evil murderous heart and if it was not for my fear of God then there is no doubt in my mind that I would already be dead now along with all rest that I might have murdered. I am a special case in this matter because I am a Columbine killer type of person and it truly is the fact that I was afraid of what God would do to me that I couldn’t do it. I explain all of this further in my three part series: A true B’strad. I have been amazingly blessed by God! That He would save me from myself all of these years and continue to do so. I sill don’t quite understand why He would do that but He has. So I just keep on trying to seek His face and serve Him as best as I can because without Him I am dead. I have seen hell and I can tell you that is is the absolutely the most horrific thing that is beyond anything you can imagine. I don’t want you to go down the harsh path I had to follow, that why I keep on trying to help people to trust in God. Now that I have finally learned to give it all up to Him I am now and for the first time in my life I am at piece with myself. I am a fool, and I am only 23 with a lot to learn! But I listen to a lot of wise men that I have been blessed with and I try to learn some of it and I constantly pray for God to gift me with his wisdom.

I sorry that your comment hasn’t been posted up immediately. From what I understood it should have been posted up right away. You’ll have to level that complaint to Bieren Skidels because he’s the one with all the control on this blog. I just write up my foolish rambles here! He’s the one that has all the keys to this blog. But no worries, I’ll always let your comments through.

I’m sorry; I’m still confused. Is this a political site or a site solely for the shameless self-promotion of your archaic Christian values? God did not punish you for being arrogant by making you burn your hand. That’s such a backwards though - I don’t even know how to respond.

There isn’t much political discussion to be had here; you pretty much agreed with everything I said. I agree that the media has given Obama a huge break, but that’s no reason for McCain to be so petty.

I didn’t say that it was the government’s job to provide jobs; I said that it’s the government’s job to make sure that we can work. Unless you went to private school, then you have received the most common form of government welfare - public education - which is what gave you the foundation upon which you built a career. I doubt that without that education you would be able to write this blog. Assuring each citizen’s rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is, in essence, assuring the means to live a free, happy life. You can’t make someone build a house if you refuse to give them a hammer and nails.

On a personal note, I’m happy that your religious journey has been guided by God. I’m certainly very optimistic about your future as an evangelist.

Darth B'strad

Comment on September 17th, 2008.

Did I say that He made me burn my hand! No, He allowed me to have my hand burned by my own stupidity and arrogance. Sorry for not being clear here but if you just want to write me off as a shameless self-promoter of “archaic” Christan values then so be it. You’ll also have to write of the country for that matter too, because our country was founded on thous “archaic” values. I do find it funny how often you have accuse me of things here when you put up “I mentioned that I am an Episcopal to prevent you from labeling me as an atheist super-liberal.” I haven’t called you a single name here but so far I have gotten, “your ivory tower,” “brash and self-righteous,” “shameless self-promotion” and “archaic Christian values.” Kinda funny how you keep on accusing me of what you do: writing people off as something without contending with their argument. Well I’m used to it, why do you think I put up Darth B’Strad for my name on this blog.

Now if you want to talk about petty then you have to say that Carlie Gibson’s interview with Sarah was petty. Do you really think that he would have asked such gotcha questions of Obama? He set out to humiliate Sarah while Obama goes out there and whimpers about one McCain ad that the vast majority of people think that’s what he was saying. But I value truth here first and I don’t think that Obama was trying to call her a pig.

Again, It’s not the government’s job to make sure that we can work; it’s our job! (at least that’s how it should be) It’s not government’s job to give you the hammers and nails! It’s you job to work for the hammers and nails! I think it would be a whole lot better for government to give us back our money and let us provide our own education and our own education is a lot better than the government’s. I went to a privet school for three years and then when I reentered the public school system that entire year was a waste because I had already learned everything for that year. Competition makes for better schools and I still say to government “get outa my way!” All these handouts are hurting our economy, not helping it.

Thank you for the optimism, I very much appreciate that! And I’ll keep paying.

Oh and your comment posted up right away! Maybe I need to approve it twice before the site starts to automatically let comments through. I also have many more posts up here that I am sure you have some arguments with so please, feel free to tear me a new one here.
